We Defy Foundation
DeLaRiva BJJ

I've been a proud member of De La Riva BJJ for just over two years now, and the impact it has had on both my BJJ journey and personal growth is nothing short of remarkable. This academy is truly exceptional in every sense, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share my experience.

One of the most striking aspects of De La Riva BJJ is the sense of community and camaraderie that permeates the gym. The coaches and fellow practitioners have become like a second family to me. It's not just about learning the art; it's about the relationships you build along the way. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everyone is eager to help you progress.

At the heart of De La Riva BJJ is Professor Joe, a true maestro in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His dedication to teaching and his deep understanding of the art are evident in every class. Professor Joe has an uncanny ability to break down complex techniques into manageable steps, making them accessible to students of all skill levels. His passion for BJJ is contagious, and his guidance has been instrumental in my growth as a martial artist.

By extension are the Professor's and the Coaches under his leadership. Professor Ricky, Professor Pat, Mike, Mike from Houston, and O'Connell are a wealth of Information on the mat and have taught me with every roll and every time I see them in class. Lastly the Coaches lay at the foundation of what is taught here. Coach Sebastian and Coach Phim are amazing people and will challenge me in every aspect of my Jiu-jitsu.

The curriculum at De La Riva BJJ is comprehensive and structured, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From fundamental techniques to advanced strategies, the classes are thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of both beginners and those more experienced on the mat. No matter your level, you will find ample opportunities to challenge yourself and refine your skills.

Beyond the physical aspects, De La Riva BJJ has also had a profound impact on my personal development. The discipline, perseverance, and problem-solving skills I've acquired through BJJ have spilled over into other areas of my life. It's a journey of continuous self-improvement, and I'm grateful to be on this path with such an incredible group of individuals.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend De La Riva BJJ to anyone seeking to embark on their BJJ  journey or enhance their existing skills. This school is not just a place to learn techniques; it's a place to discover your potential, foster lifelong friendships, and grow as a martial artist and as a person. My two years at De La Riva BJJ have been nothing short of transformative, and I eagerly anticipate the many more to come

Ice is your best friend. Cold water immersion, also known as cold water therapy or cryotherapy, involves exposing the body to cold temperatures to help reduce inflammation and enhance recovery. After an intense training session, a cold shower or an ice bath can help constrict blood vessels, minimize muscle soreness, and promote circulation. The cold temperature aids in reducing swelling and preventing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). There are a bunch of portable ice tubs out there. I use Nurecover. It was affordable and IT works.
